Resolution Update – February

I thought I’d start a new series of monthly posts, to support you all in staying on track with the resolutions that you made at the beginning of the year. It will also come in handy for those who make monthly goals.

So how did January go, how did you get on with the fitness and dietary goals that you set for yourself.

Change takes time, so don’t be alarmed if you are making the changes but don’t feel that you are making a difference, you are! One of the things that I constantly hear is, ‘I’ve changed my diet but the scales are not budging’, in the first instance it’s a no no to rely on the scales to inform you of your total health but that’s for another post. What you should focus on are things like, your energy levels, how satisfied after eating that you feel and body measurements.

Research shows that a large percentage of people who set New Year’s resolutions to get fit have abandoned them by now, have you found this to be the case. If so do not be disheartened it’s time to revisit your goals and do an assessment of them.

Some things to look at are:

  • Did you set SMART goals, were they specific, measurable, achievable and realistic in the time frame that you set.
  •

  • Did you try to do too much too soon, remember focus on making one change at a time.
  •

  • Did you write your goals down and share them to make you accountable.
  •

  • Did you take into account potential obstacles and how to work through them.
  •

  • Were you able to utilise a support network to support you in staying on track.

So time to sit down and set some goals, feel free to share them on this post or on my Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/GillianStephenfitness , so that I and others can support you in getting back on track and staying there. Have a great month!

How have you fared in your fitness and dietary goals in January? What would you like to work on for February? Thanks for commenting.
