Breathlessness whilst pregnant and exercising

Some pregnant clients have found that, as their pregnancy progresses they have increased incidents of breathlessness from activities, even walking which can concern them. This is to be expected due to increased demands on the body for oxygen. Also as the baby grows and the size of the uterus increases, it pushes the diaphragm further up into the chest cavity which can inhibit it’s movement making breathing more of an effort. The body is equipped to handle this so although it seems as if you have less oxygen, your breathing capacity is similar to pre pregnancy levels.
