March is National Nutrition Month in the US and I thought it would be great as a Healthy Eating Champion at Around the Plate, to get involved and answer some questions on my own eating habits. I’m hoping that it will benefit some of you on your journey.
So here are the questions:
Fat is a needed nutrient in our diet for some of the following reasons:
So how did February go, how did you get on with the fitness and dietary goals that you set for yourself?
Today March 8th 2013 is International Women’s Day a day to officially acknowledge the contribution that you and other women in your life make on a daily basis.
I’d like to take this day to focus on women’s health and the steps that you can take to ensure that you stay in tip top shape, caring for yourself so that you are able to care for others.

One of the areas of concern for many clients is what to snack on. Yes there are many snack foods within easy reach but many of them would not be considered healthy and are laden with sugar, salt and saturated fat.
So imagine my delight when I was introduced recently to Graze and their fabulous snack boxes. It was during a break on a fitness workshop and a friend who is also an instructor, shared a container of roasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds in a little bit of Soya and they were delicious.

24 “If you can?’ retorted Jesus. ‘Everything is possible for one who has faith.’ At once the father of the boy cried out, ‘I have faith. Help my lack of faith!” Mark 9:24 (NJB)

For most Lent is a time to give something up, so people battle through and then as soon as Lent is over they resume what they were previously doing.
What if instead of focusing so much on what you are going to give up, that you shift your focus to how you can improve yourself in some way, and use Lent as a time to do that. For me this is why I was keen to be involved in the Lenten Challenge.
Do you struggle with eating healthily and knowing what to eat and when? This is one of my most common questions. So when I received the following I thought I’d share my response.
Matthew 6:25-34 25 That is why I am telling you not to worry about your life and what you are to eat, nor about your body and what you are to wear. Surely life is more than food, and the body more than clothing! 26 Look at the birds in the sky. They do not sow or reap or gather into barns; yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not worth more than they are?
